3 letters
I picked letters that were mostly straight. They were more simple but looked clean. I used a combination of an Old Style "K", a Transitional "L", and a Slab Serif "X". The base of the L is a bracket. There is one leg in the letter K. The type anatomy term for the letter X was just “x-height”. The part above the leg of the K is called the arm. It is a short stroke off the stem of the letter form. Between the arm and leg of the K lies the crotch. Finally, the last part of the "K" is the stem. The stem is a vertical stroke in a character. This is the interior space where the two strokes meet. I situated these letters inside the framal reference by making each letter touch one side of the box. The letter is teaching me that you can improvise and make something look like art even if it is something simple like 3 letters. You can use your imagination and be creative to make anything you want. I think the most challenging part of this assignment for me was to be precise especially when filling in the letters with the sharpie. Making sure it didn't leave the line. Since, the tip of the sharpie is large, there would be a great chance where you would be caught off guard and make a mistake where the sharpie filling isn't directly in between the lines which can throw the whole thing off since it can look awkward with a bump being uneven with the rest of the sharpie filling. The process of this activity was pretty nerve racking because I didn't know if it the placement of the letters would look good and how it is spread around the box. Also, if the letters I picked were a good choice but at the end it turned out decent.
The lines you drew for the letter x look very straight. The lines on the letter k and l are slightly off but are good.
ReplyDeleteThe line resembles are closely drawn and all kind of impacted. The lines are all neatly and clearly drawn. I can see a stroke on the l and arm on the X. I would improve on making the letter a bit bigger and wider because it all looks impacted and squished in, but besides that everything else was good.
